It retains water 2 to 3 inches deep which freezes, allowing for a smooth ice surface. This eliminates the need to flood a surface with water and let it freeze repeatedly. Occasional watering will keep the surface smooth. Only suitable for a single gel. Multiple Simple Rinks can be configured to form a larger skating surface.
